Once upon a time I spent seventeen years in the weight loss/health coaching world. One of the things I often coached about was the importance of planning your day so that it would go as well as possible. Plan what you want to eat, when you'll exercise, when you'll be working. It makes sense. It creates clarity and expectations for yourself. Win/Win.
Along the way, I learned about a concept called decision fatigue. OUCH. This means that after you've made a significant number of decisions in a day, you tire of it naturally, and then the decisions you end up making at the end of the day go something like this--whatever...whatever happens...whatever comes my way...I don't really care that much anymore...I'm too tired to think, so I guess I'll just bumble along...it's not that big of a deal anyway...tomorrow is another day...so...
This Coach says, how about NO! If decision fatigue is at work against all of us, we can get smart and be one step ahead of it.
Make your big decisions at the beginning of the day. Then, when you get tired or distracted, just follow your plan. This applies to food, exercise, projects around the house, work, limiting time on your phone, sleep hygiene, etc. Stick to the well established plan you created when you were thinking your best, when you were fresh. This is a recipe for being successful on your terms. This is not to say you can't change direction if the day unfolds differently that you imagined. Flexibility makes sense too. However, how many times have you had great intentions in the morning only to see things unravel ever so predictably?
ME? MANY!
Life can be busy. Life can be boring. Life circumstances can scatter our focus, and then we end up not feeling great about what happens. That's not good enough for us. So, I challenge you to think about how you'd like your day to go, especially the important parts, and set yourself up for getting the very thing you are looking for. Some people call this the Law of Assumption (I already have it). Others call it the Law of Attraction (I am like a magnet for what I want--it wants me back). Others call it manifesting, using your powers of guided visualization to call in your heart's desire. It doesn't matter what you call it, it just matters that you do it. You start engineering your life around getting the results that you want, first by planning for your success.
I am always cheering you on to get what you want!
