It took me 3 weeks

True confessions here. It took me three weeks into 2025 to actually feel "ready" to get a "fresh start" and move forward and do the things that I want to be doing. Truth be told, I wasn't doing nothing, but I wasn't moving the needle the way I wanted to. I am a life coach. I am a mindset shifter. People hire me for this, and yet--there I was... in it myself. Which is normal.

While "new year/new you" isn't a thing; and while I don't believe in new year's resolutions because most people quit them by the second week in January, the desire to begin again is real. The desire to have something different or something more is real. And, no matter how many times you have done it, we are all humble beginners once again.

So, what to do when you aren't feeling the get up and go vibes?

You do what has to be done. The bare minimum is required. Eating, hydrating, sleeping, showering, taking care of your family, pets, working your job. You do that. That's baseline existence.

You accept that you aren't feeling the best, most motivated version of yourself. It just IS. It isn't an argument. It isn't a fake it til you make it moment. It is not your most vavoom moment; so what? Don't dwell on that truth, but acknowledge it. Be honest.

You do the simple things that you know help, no matter how small they seem. I am a journaler. Journaling always helps. Walking my dog is routine. That helps because we are bonding, and we are outside. Nature is a great healer/helper.

You rely on your habits that support you on good days and bad. For example, if you always go to a gym class, you keep going even though you don't feel like it. Maybe you don't give it your all, but you show up and get through. That feels better, so it is better. It might not solve all the problems, but it helps. That counts because we are at the bottom of the barrel at the moment. Take the itty bitty life line.

You remind yourself that you are human. Check the box: I am not a robot. Give yourself the grace space to be yourself. Manage expectations. Feeling energized is one version of you. Feeling "meh" is another. Feeling not so up for it is another. All are part of the imperfect human experience that we call life's lessons. School is in session every.single.day.

You reach out to others who can be supportive. You share what's going on. Yesterday I was on a coaching call in my mastermind group of fellow coaches. And there she was, another coach just like me who shared the exact same lived experience that I had been having. I was seen, heard, understood and consequently didn't feel so alone on my island. Hey--it's not just me over here stumbling. RELIEF!

All this to say that you are feeling uninspired, unmotivated, uncertain about your life, coping with winter, the world, LA fires, AI, you are not alone. This too is temporary. Things will shift whether you make it happen or not. Things will look different because you make different decisions. You take different actions. You look at life with a new perspective. January turns into February. You prioritize your health, happiness, joy, fitness, courage, patience, humility, forgiveness.

Let me know what you do to get through those blah periods in your life. And, if you are having a hard time finding your way out, reach out, and we can set up a 15 minute laser focused session of insight on how to move along.

xo Coach Karen :))
